EPAPSY\u2019s Guest Houses are short-stay accommodation units, which host people with severe psychosocial difficulties, who have no family or whose temporary removal from their family is deemed therapeutic. They also host people who are in need of an adjustment and retraining period for living in a community.<\/span><\/p>\n

The residence at the Guest Houses is not permanent; its duration cannot exceed 36 months and it depends on the readiness of the residents to move to a semi-independent living framework (Protected Flats), return to their place of residence or secure a new place of residence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our guest houses provide care and support 24\/7. The interdisciplinary team providing care and support consists of psychologists, social workers, nurses, and general care staff, who are trained and evaluated regularly to ensure high work quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

The provided care aims to:<\/b><\/p>\n

  • Reduce the residents\u2019 hospitalizations<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Improve their quality of life<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Help them become independent in the community<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Destigmatize and socially reintegrate them<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Services, actions and programs<\/b><\/p>\n

    Our Guest Houses implement a holistic treatment plan on a daily basis, aimed at the support our residents\u2019 needs. The plan includes:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Psychiatric and medical monitoring and treatment<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Psychotherapy, rehabilitation interventions, support with social issues<\/span><\/li>\n
    • A program for the improvement of personal and social skills and self-care, adapted to the goals, abilities and needs of each resident<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Preparation for moving into a semi-independent living residence\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Preparation for professional reintegration<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Reconnection and cooperation with the family and social environment<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Reinforcement and self-organization actions<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Recreational activities (outings in the community, summer holiday program, handcrafts group, music group, etc.)<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Advocacy and rights defense actions<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Mental health promotion actions against stigma and social exclusion<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Upon completion of each resident’s rehabilitation program, our units try to create synergies to achieve the “continuum of care”.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      Volunteering and internships<\/b><\/p>\n

      Our Guest Houses provide internship and volunteer opportunities to students of Psychology, Social Work, etc., giving them the opportunity to firsthand observe the organization and operation of a psychosocial rehabilitation guest house and to participate in groups and rehabilitation programs, with individual supervision by professionals of the relevant specialization.<\/span><\/p>\n
