Program’s purpose:

EPAPSY, in collaboration with UNHCR, implements the Samos Peer Support program, which aims at the provision of psychosocial support services to refugee children and youth. In the Samos Peer Support program, refugee youth who reside at the Samos RIC receive a mentorship training by Community Psychosocial Workers and psychologists, so that they are able to mentor and provide psychosocial support to other refugee children and youth within the Samos RIC.

Responsibilities:

  • Guidance, supervision, and capacity building of a team of 3 Community Psychosocial Workers (CPWs) and 2 psychologists
  • Close cooperation and reporting to the project manager
  • Close cooperation with the Samos UNHCR MFT team, Samos local actors (schools, NGOs, municipality etc.)
  • Attending to day-to-day issues which may come up in the field
  • Collection of data and financial documents
  • Participation and coordination of weekly team meetings
  • Participation in the selection and training of new team members
  • Participation in the organization of trainings
  • Facilitation of the implementation of the program, by optimizing processes, creating opportunities, participating in meetings with other actors, accommodating the needs of the team
  • Monthly visits to the island of Samos

 

Required qualifications and skills:

Profile

  • University degree in Psychology or Social Work
  • Work permit as a psychologist or social worker
  • A master’s degree on a relevant topic will be considered an asset

Experience

  • Previous working experience within the field of refugee mental health is highly valued
  • Previous working experience with children and adolescents is highly valued
  • Previous working experience of coordinating teams is highly valued

Required Professional skills

  • Very good knowledge of the refugee context and current situation in Greece
  • Excellent communicational and organizational skills
  • General knowledge of the NGO world, and particularly of available services in Attica/Samos
  • Ability to work and coordinate a multicultural team

Language

  • Fluency in Greek
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • An addition language will be considered as an asset

Computer skills

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
